The discovery of 7 Earth-sized planets orbiting nearby star

One of the greatest discovery in my lifetime is the discovery of the possibility of life outside planet earth. So cool to hear as NASA announces the discovery of the seven Earth-sized planets that orbits around the nearby star.

According to NASA

"NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. Three of these planets are firmly located in the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water.
The discovery sets a new record for greatest number of habitable-zone planets found around a single star outside our solar system. All of these seven planets could have liquid water – key to life as we know it – under the right atmospheric conditions, but the chances are highest with the three in the habitable zone.
“This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the agency’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “Answering the question ‘are we alone’ is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.”

Octuplet and their life after birth

I just want to share this news that is being surrounded by a lot of publicity. Being a mom is a privilege but when you are surrounded by a whole lot of scrutiny and you are being watched everyday I don't think it will be as delightful as it should be.

Order to close Guantanamo Bay facility

Now that we have a new president, we have to expect change and decisions that we might not think will happen but it will. As what I have read and heard Obama signs order to close Guantanamo Bay facility, promising to return America to the "moral high ground" in the war on terrorism. President Obama issued three executive orders Thursday to demonstrate a clean break from the Bush administration, including one requiring that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed within a year.
Hopefully this will be a stepping stone for America to gain back its moral high ground.

Cold Fronts

Oh yea, we also have cold front here in the sunshine state where we have to wear coat and jackets. It's been days now since our weather temperature dropped down to the 20's and for us it's just unbearable since we are used to wearing shorts, tank tops and flip flops.

To all Floridians keep it warm!

A hero

In our time, it's hard to think that hero still be around. This fast pace, people seems to not care and just mind their own business. The tragedy at the Hudson river opens a lot of eyes and touched a lot of hearts that there is still hero left in our time. Thank you for your saving all the lives in the plane and thank God nobody got hurt.

Not oh so cuddly Panda

I saw this horrible news about the Panda, a college student in southern China just needed a hug, but he probably shouldn't have picked a panda for his warm and fuzzy moment. The Panda got out of the zoo enclosure and bit the student. A park employee said the student was visiting the zoo with classmates when he jumped the 6.5-foot-high fence around the panda's habitat.

he employee said the student was bitten in the arms and legs by the panda, named Yang Yang. Two foreign visitors who saw the attack ran to get help.

To all of you out there, be careful because animals are still animals. No matter how cute and cuddly they are, they are still animals and you might catch them in the wrong mood.
